Little things on Reddit

The original “1000 things” blogs went quiet more than a decade ago — but the idea never did. It moved to Reddit. Nobody there keeps a numbered list of one thousand (we checked), yet every day people post one small joy at a time, and every so often one of those posts stops the whole front page. Here are the threads and communities worth your afternoon.

One post, 142,000 hearts

In spring 2026, a post titled “It's the little things that make you smile” climbed to the top of r/MadeMeSmile with over 142,000 upvotes. r/MadeMeSmile is the closest thing Reddit has to a permanent home for this feeling: an endless feed of small moments that landed on someone.

Threads that write the list together

Our favorite corner is the question threads — because the replies quietly become a crowd-written little things list:

“What's the most underrated simple pleasure in life?” — more than 1,600 answers on r/CasualConversation.

“What is a small, seemingly normal thing someone can do that immediately makes you think: they're a keeper?” — 900+ answers on r/AskReddit.

“What small, seemingly insignificant thing did your partner do that made you realize how much they love you?” — the same question, romantic edition.

Read ten replies in any of them and you'll recognize half our list. Different people, same beautiful question.

A checklist that went viral

“A cool guide to the small wins we forget about” collected 30,000 upvotes on r/coolguides: one image, a couple dozen everyday victories. Proof that a plain list of small good things is something people genuinely want to keep.

Little things, men's edition

“Little things that make men happy” gathered nearly 18,000 upvotes on r/GuysBeingDudes — a reminder that noticing small joys isn't a soft-pastel-Tumblr thing. It belongs to everyone.

Where to keep reading

r/MadeMeSmile for moments, r/CasualConversation for the question threads, r/Positivity for the stories, and r/Journaling if you'd like to start writing your own small list down — gratitude lists are a whole quiet culture there.

And when a thread over there moves you, come back: somewhere in our thousand there's a line that says the same thing.
